Restoring Rusted Parts Back to Bare Metal

    Friday, March 16, 2012, 11:00 AM

Working on vintage cars, I unfortunately see a lot of rusty parts, and they can’t always be replaced.  When you have to restore parts’ surfaces to bare metal, I use the WD-40® SpecialistTM Rust Remover Soak.  It works great on things like alternator brackets and studs – just leave them in overnight and they’ll look like new in the morning.

For a non-toxic way to remove rust from old parts – and without scraping, chipping or scrubbing – use the new WD-40 Specialist Rust Remover Soak to get the job done.

Silencing and Protecting Hinges and Latches

    Friday, March 9, 2012, 11:21 AM

It’s fine to want to be noticed for your ride, but it should be your car’s engine that makes noise, not its doors.  At the Foose Design shop, we use the new WD-40® SpecialistTM Protective White Lithium Grease on bear claw door latches that are known to be noisy.  Not only does it provide long-lasting lubrication and silence, it also protects latches and other metal parts from rust and corrosion.

On your jobs that have a lot of metal-to-metal contact, use WD-40 Specialist Protective White Lithium Grease to get the job done.

    Keeping Your Vehicle Rust-Free

    Tuesday, February 28, 2012, 10:33 AM

True hot rodders don’t just restore and maintain what’s visible on a vehicle – they make sure the whole thing is looking good and running smooth all the time. We coat the entire undercarriages of our vehicles with the new WD-40® Specialist Long-Term Corrosion Inhibitor to keep them rust-free. This is especially helpful during winter months, where salt can negatively affect your vehicle’s metal parts. You can also spray inside inner wheel wells and body closeout panels of older, non-sealed cars to prevent rust build-up.

A little preventative maintenance can go a long way, so try out the new Long-Term Corrosion Inhibitor and other new WD-40 Specialist products on your vehicles.

    Rejuvenating and Replacing Weather Stripping

    Thursday, February 23, 2012, 10:16 AM

When your car door tends to stick, it’s often times because of its weather stripping.  When weather stripping starts to go bad and begins cracking, I use WD-40® Specialist Water Resistant Silicone Lubricant to help rejuvenate it as a temporary fix.  Then, when it’s time to eventually replace the weather stripping, you can also use the silicone spray to help slide it through the channel easier with no messy residue or stickiness.

Try out the Water Resistant Silicone Lubricant and the other new WD-40 Specialist products on your tough, specialized jobs.

See You at Barrett-Jackson This Week!

    Tuesday, January 17, 2012, 7:32 AM

In support of the auction of the WD-40®/ SEMA Cares Foose Challenger, which we designed and built here at Foose Design, I will be appearing at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz. this Friday, January 20th.

We unveiled the vehicle, a 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8, in November to a packed house in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center on the first day of the annual SEMA show.  Since that day, the vehicle has been on a publicity tour, appearing at the San Diego International Auto Show and the Silicon Valley International Auto Show.  Its final stop is Barrett Jackson, where the vehicle will roll across the auction blocks at approximately 6pm MST on January 20th.  All proceeds will go to two worthy children’s charities; Childhelp, an organization that provides services to abused and neglected children, and the Victory Junction Gang Camp, which provides life-changing camping experiences for disabled and chronically ill children.

None of this would be possible if not for the kind support of our sponsor WD-40 Company.  In association with SEMA Cares, this is their 3rd charity vehicle at Barrett-Jackson in as many years.  They truly have a commitment to charity and community and I’m so thrilled that we were able to help with this year’s vehicle.

Features of the vehicle include Street Scene/Foose Design custom front and rear spoilers, Pirelli P Zero tires, MHT/Foose custom one-off 5-spoke billet wheels, BASF Paint custom mixed by Chip Foose, Lanzini BodyWorks paint based on Chip Foose Design, Hotchkis Suspension TVS Stage 1 package, Katzkin upholstery with embroidered WD-40 brand logo on all four headrests, K&N Filters fresh air induction kit, Magnaflow cat-back exhaust, 3.5" with 5"x14" muffler, polished stainless steel quad tips, and an ACT Street twin clutch kit.

Look for me up on stage with this unique vehicle, we hope to generate as much as we can in support of these charities.  Come say hi as I'll be signing autographs the morning of the auction at booth AF-13 and, if you can’t make it to the show, please be sure to tune into the SPEED Channel, as they offer all-day coverage of the event from 12pm-10pm on January 20th, 2012.

Don’t forget - Lot 3032 at approximately 6pm MST on Friday, January 20th!

What Went Into the WD-40/SEMA Cares Project Vehicle?

    Sunday, October 30, 2011, 7:19 PM

For the past few years running, Foose Design has been fortunate to present a unique Foose vehicle at the SEMA Show.  We are proud this year that the vehicle we are working on is on behalf of Childhelp and Victory Junction Gang Camps – two great SEMA Cares charities.  These two groups do great things for children and their families, and I am thrilled to help out in a small way.

I can’t tell you the make and model of the car we are working on, but I can tell you what I am doing to the car.  First, my design is based on a retro theme, with cool graphics and detailed paint.  BASF contributed all the paint and materials from their water based Glasurit 90 Line, artfully painted by my friend Mitch Lanzini of Lanzini Body Works.  Believe me when you see this car in person you will appreciate how detailed the paintwork is.  Mike Spagnola and his crew at Street Scene artfully interpreted my sketches for a unique front and rear spoiler, and created awesome finished pieces.  Finishing off the paint will be Dennis Ricklifs and his talents with a pinstriping brush.

My buddy John Hotchkis supplied a great Hotchkis TVS Suspension System to give this car total handling performance.  MHT and Mike Curtis have provided a custom set of one-off, CNC machined, 22” Foose Design wheels wrapped in performance Pirelli Tires.  MagnaFlow contributed one of their stainless steel Cat back systems with very cool quad outlets, the sound on the car is guaranteed to be strong!  The headrests have a WD-40® brand logo embroidered by Katzkin and I will be including a couple of my FOOSE logo badges on the interior door panels.  Advanced Clutch Technologies has supplied one of their Street Twin clutch kits to insure all the power from this Muscle Car makes it to the street.  Stay tuned for more details to follow on this project.

The unveiling will be at the SEMA Show Tuesday Nov. 1 at 2pm in the Grand Lobby.  If you’re there, come by and join us... It’s going to be a fun event!
