We moved from a neighborhood that had AT&T U-Verse into a laneighborhood that only has Verizon FIOS. The city only lets one or the other run cable infrastructure, so we are locked into FIOS until the city allows another provider! These are the main reasons that I prefer U-Verse over FIOS:
U-Verse lets me record 4 shows at once (in Standard Def). FIOS only lets me record two shows at once, regardless of high/standard def
U-Verse remote controls could be programmed for my DVD player, too
U-Verse had picture-in-picture channel browsing
U-Verse kept the DVR playback as a separate channel, so I could flip back and forth between a recording and live TV by using the "last channel" button.
U-Verse had a 7-second reverse feature; U-Verse only allows for 30-second reverse & forward
U-Verse let me view and on-demand streaming show WHILE it was recording 2 shows
U-Verse DVR and set top boxes were smaller and used less power than FIOS boxes
I like that I can get FIOS tv/phone/internet for $100/month if I look around for a discount. I don't remember what I was paying for U-Verse, but I didn't use their phone service!
I'm not sure if everything I post is supposed to be WD-40 related. I don't think that WD-40 would have helped with either U-Verse or FIOS.
